Pray Requests

Source

The Psalmist in Psalms 5 says,
"O Lord, hear me as I pray; pay attention to my groaning. Listen to my cry for help, my King and my God, for I pray to no one but you. Listen to my voice in the morning, Lord. Each morning I bring my requests to you and wait expectantly." Psalms 5:1-3

It's early on my side of the world. As I read these words today I was struck by the rawness of the writer's heart - David. In his groaning, God is still God and he prays expectantly, knowing that God will hear and answer. In this Psalm, it is also clear that David chose to speak with God in the morning at the beginning of the day.

As I read this, I was encouraged in the following ways:

  • Continue waking up early to pray
  • To pray expectantly
  • Burdens may make us groan, but pray anyway
  • God is still in control

Do you start your day prayerfully?
