The Old Testament highlights the time before Christ; before the realization of the Messiah. With this void, we can see men and women of faith, fallen men, and a favored nation - the Israelites. We see unfavorable actions, the bad side of human nature and through it all God's grace, power, and sovereignty. Man is nothing without God.
When I studied the book of Judges, it had a profound impact on my life. (Type The Book of Judges in the search bar on the blog.)
Ezra is a new book for me, which we will discover together. In the book of Ezra, we see renewal, restoration, remembrance, revival, and reformation. I'm hoping that as we study we receive new revelations from God with real-life application.
Prayer - Dear Lord, as we study your word, open up our understanding. Let the words on the page come alive. Speak to each of us as we read and make us receptive to your voice. Teach us the lessons that we need to learn as you mold us into who you made us. Thank you for the comfort, knowledge, wisdom and nurturing found in your Word. We are grateful to you for the growth we will see in our lives as we immerse ourselves in you. Amen.

I found you through a prayer posted in 2017. It is the most all encompassing prayer I've ever seen. The Holy Spirit spoke to me through that prayer. I pray Jesus Christ protects and prospers you. Thank you for being used by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
ReplyDeleteWow, I've never done a study in Ezra--and I'm trying to remember if I've ever even heard a sermon with Ezra as the text ...
ReplyDeleteI did a study on Nehemiah a few years ago, and it was amazing!
I'll try to keep up with you here. Thanks for the heads up.

ReplyDeleteI do need to read Ezra.
ReplyDeleteI'm working my way through the Old Testament right now. I'll look forward to rereading Ezra now.
ReplyDeleteI sooo agree with you! I have been in the Old Testament for almost two years now. I am currently in the book of Deuteronomy. Years ago I didn't like reading the Old Testament because it felt like God was more of a taskmaster. But now with decades walking with the Lord, I see that the Old Testament shows how much love the Father has for us. His great patience and His incredible provision! There is nothing that He asks of us without providing the means to accomplish AND the promise that He will be right there with us.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to getting to the Book of Ezra as I read through the Old Testament.
Thanks for sharing.
