The Best Add-In

Sometimes, the littlest things excite me. My undergrad is in Computer Science, so I have an affinity for technology. When I see products working beautifully together, well, I get excited.

Recently in my current role, we purchased a new productivity tool. The learning curve is not too steep for this package, but it does require some effort to figure out how to do what some would call basic functions. One of those basic functions is scheduling meeting availability for myself or others. There's a package on the market that does exactly that. Instead of having multiple conversations around meeting availability, you send a link with times you're available to meet, and the recipient selects a mutually agreeable time for both parties. Imagine my glee when I realized there was an add-in for the scheduling package on our new productivity tool.

Add-ins are simply installed features that run inside of other programs to increase or enhance functionality. Add-ins are often called plug-ins or extensions.

Enhance functionality; with this add-in, scheduling became a breeze. It felt so easy. And it made me realize that we also have an add-in, The Comforter. The Comforter is an extension of Jesus that we plug into to access all features and functionality.

But I think we sometimes forget the additional functionality we are gifted with. We worry, fret, become anxious, and carry all our burdens when the reality is if we were to trust the enhanced functionality of the Holy Spirit, our lives would be simplified and purposeful. It seems so simple, but I think God knew we would often overlook his precious gift to us. This is why we are often reminded of his many promises about how to live life. Well, I know, I do.

And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever.
But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. John 14:16,26

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. Acts 1:8

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13

Next time you feel out of sorts, remember, as a believer, you have an add-in that provides you with enhanced functionality. Tap into it.

  1. "The Comforter is an extension of Jesus that we plug into to access all features and functionality." He makes us more than we ever could be, to the glory and honor of His Name! Beautiful!
