A Labor of Love

After birthing four children, I know intrinsically what is to labor for love. There's the initial excitement, then the arduous waiting while watching your body go through so many physical changes. Then there's the inevitable delivery where you're slightly afraid but you know that at the end of the process a new life will emerge from you. Throughout the entire process this new life is front and center - whether you are uncomfortable or have an uneventful pregnancy your only concern is for the life inside of you.

Writing a book is also a labor of love. The conception and gestation period were much shorter than in the natural as the thought for this book came about when my eldest daughter was embarking on her marriage journey last year. As her mother, she sought out so much advice from me that her impending nuptials provided an opportunity to share what I have learned over the years. There was the initial excitement, the daily discipline of writing, working with others, and then learning new processes so that this book could come to fruition.

Her newness on this life-changing journey encouraged me to think back and then share what I have learned. Because I write and blog, I shared some of those thoughts here on the blog which was well received. But many thoughts weren't shared and now there are captured in my first book - an E-Book entitled My Best Marriage Advice: How to Thrive In Your Marriage. This book is now available on Amazon.

One of the most touching photographs from her wedding was her holding a picture of us indicating that she wanted to emulate us. That night I said to my husband, "They want to emulate us. What is it they see? My God, I hope we do them justice."

I'm excited; I'm nervous; I'm happy; I'm humbled. I never intended that my first book would be about marriage, but God saw fit to make it so. Just like we birth babies, God births dreams. I'm so glad this labor of love has come to fruition. Please check out My Best Marriage Advice on Amazon, and then leave a review when you're done.

Jesus looked at them intently and said, “Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But with God everything is possible.” Matthew 19:26

  1. I will never experience the labor of childbirth. I have so much respect for what women go through to create life. I do know a little something about the labor of writing and it is as hard as it is enjoyable. It can be such a painstaking process, but you did it. Congrats!! Every relationship is different, but much can be learned from someone with experience on making it work.
